We promote critical thinking skills needed for 21st Century learning and success. Teachers learn to facilitate and allow students to take ownership of their own learning.

About the Institute

The Inquiry and Design Institute promotes curiosity and ignites critical thinking skills needed for 21st Century learning and success. Inquirers ask their own questions and research what matters to them. Teachers facilitate learning as a process to allow students to take ownership of what they want to know.

Units for Materials

Teachers have the opportunity to dive deep into a topic by applying for a Units for Materials/ Units for Books mini-grant. Institute participants share the curriculum they develop with CCAS staff and other teachers. Units developed collaboratively are posted here.

Tools for Student Engagement

A four-day professional development Inquiry and Design Institute is offered each summer to support 6th-12th grade teachers.

"We learn more by looking for the answer to a question and not

finding it than from learning the answer itself."
