TRIO Talent Search

The goal of TRIO Talent Search is to increase the number of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school and enroll in and complete their postsecondary education.

TRIO Talent Search

The TRIO Talent Search program identifies and assists individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The program provides academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and continue on to and complete their postsecondary education.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, under the direction of Northeastern Illinois University’s Center for

College Access and Success, the program achieves its

goals by providing direct student services to low income,

first generation potentially college-bound youth, in grades

nine to twelve.

Services include:

  • Tutoring

  • College Tours

  • Student and Parent Workshops

  • Summer Enrichment

  • Assistance with College and Financial Aid Applications

  • SAT preparation

  • Follow-up after graduation from high school

  • Individual needs assessment
